| Latest Updates... Happy New Year! Lots to look forward to in 2012 - classes resuming shortly, maybe a few new classes too for you to try out with the introduction of Pulse8 - 3 different styles to suit all, more details to follow soon! And a summer hafla already being organised with our favourite male belly dancer Ozgen as special guest. Raising funds for the Neo-natal baby unit where Riley and Joe have been so well looked after, and also raising funds for Project Linus who knit and quilt lots of blankets for poorly chidren in hospitals. "Dancer of the Month" ~ November DANCER OF THE MONTH IS.. Pauline SherlockPauline joined my Sunday morning class a few months ago with her friend Sue and both were nervous but keen to learn. Pauline seemed a bit more self conscious and shy and struggled with one or two of the steps, but both got stuck in with the routine that the class were learning. I've enjoyed watching them dance over the past few weeks and was especially pleased to see Pauline grasp some of the moves that she had previously struggled with and to watch her confidence grow. I hope both ladies will continue to shimmy with us as they are a lovely addition to the class - well done Pauline! Belly Dance Magazine... I recently met with Elizabeth Hopkins at a local belly dance event who was promoting a new belly dance magazine, which you can subscribe to. I already receive Mosaic and it is nice to hear about local dance events, different points of view, and other dance styles. So I brought a copy of the magazine called Majency. If you would like to support the continuation of this magazine or find out further information you can visit the following website: www.majencymagazine.com A big thank you to all my dancers and their family/friends for supporting our Halloween hafla last Saturday. Thanks also to those who helped set up, sell raffle tickets, organise the food and clear away, I couldn't do it without you! After taking out the room hire and the money to fund a new music system for future haflas we will still have a generous amount to donate to the Poppy Appeal - I will confirm the exact amount asap! I had a great night and loved watching all my dancers perform and was especially proud of my Jewels of the East. Some photos are on the photo gallery page under '2011' tab - take a look! Stay in touch!! You can also find me on facebook, and join our group 'belly dance with belly jewels' where myself and other local belly dance teachers will post details of events & also discuss dance related topics - come & have your say! Feel free to upload pictures, comments etc. Click on the link below! AiR - Stands for Arts in Redditch - which helps creative communites to work in partnership across Redditch by putting on public events and encouraging young people to get involved and express themselves through dance, music, poetry and many other arts. Belly Jewels is a member of the organisation, and will work together with the team where possible to support local activies and events.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~ Private Lessons ~ Now I have a mirrored 'studio' in my house, I am able to offer private lessons to anyone who is interested. Either use this for a one off session, to catch up on routines or have some extra help, or maybe to focus on building your confidence with dancing or working on technique...it's your lesson! It is £15 for 1x 1hr session, or £50 for 5x 45 min sessions when booked & paid together. Some ladies book up several to have 1 on 1 tuition and help with choreographing a routine for the hafla! Contact me if you are interested & we can discuss availability. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Unrelated to belly dancing, but linked to me in some way, here are some other websites if you are interested or require these services!! www.toniqueholistics.co.uk This is the website of a lady I use regularly for massages & beauty treatments, and I recommend the hydro-therm massage, which is lovely after a week of hard shimmying & being sat at a computer all day to ease away the tension! She does waxing, spray tans etc and takes a holistic approach to her work. www.tribe.net This is like a forum/chat site, which isn't soley for belly dance, but there are lots of belly dance 'tribes' you can link into, and some of the information is really good. You can just view the pages, or register to become a member so you can post questions or messages. You can spend hours on it though, it is a bit addictive at first, like facebook! www.artsinredditch.com To find out what art related events and groups are in your local area - dance, drama, music...take a look! | |
