Classes ~ currently there is only space at my St Augustines class on a Wednesday - a few ladies have asked to go on a waiting list for my Sunday class and therefore, if you attended either that class or the Monday one but for whatever circumstances no longer intend to come, please free up your space by letting me know and I can offer it out.

Tribal Sewing Session: 6 March ~ I have sooo many bits n bobs for making costumes/decorating belts and bra tops, and rarely do I find time to actually make anything! So it is nice to be able to invite ladies from my class over to have a tribal belt making session.  It is good to share ideas, and chat amongst the group - I think it helps create a nice troupe bond!! Maybe if we enjoy it, we could have them every few months, and work on a new creation to wear to class or the next hafla!

 Ladies...Ozgen is coming to Redditch!
Following the success of hosting Ozgen a few times now, I have invited him back to join us for my birthday hafla in April, at which he will be performing & also teaching workshops on the Saturday & Sunday.

He is teaching Turkish Belly dance with a Latin 'essence' on Sat 2-4 pm at Hopwood Community Centre, £18  and then Fancy veil work & combinations on Sun 11 - 12.30 at Webheath Village Hall £15 - or both workshops for £30. Spaces are already half full, so email me if you're interested - I'll need payment to secure a space.

Belly Jewels Hafla - Sat 17th April

It has worked out that the date most conveinient to all parties for the hafla is Sat 17th April - my birthday! So as a special treat I have not one, but two guest dancers, as mentione above, Ozgen will perform for us, and the lovely Lynne Chapman who dances under the name Fulya.  She will also be bringing along her stall Kookie Kaftan as so many of you enjoyed browsing & buying before!

Performance slots have already been filled, and I'm really pleased that so many of my ladies are braving it to do solos and/or small group dances, it really shows their progression over the past year.

As always the hafla will be in aid of a chosen charity (not yet decided which!) and all the profit made will go to them.  Tickets will be available from Feb onwards, so contact me for details.

"Dancer of the Month" ~ February

I have mentioned this in my blog, but I had a fun idea...just as you get 'man of the match' in footie, or 'student of the year' in school, it is always nice to recognise people's efforts, talent or even their growth in confidence. So I am going to announce each month one dancer, from any of my classes, who I feel has stood out for some reason. I do notice, even if I don't always make it known, and it makes me proud and happy when I see dancer's developing or coming on in their technique, or finally 'getting' a move after a few weeks! This isn't meant as a competitive notion, but I think everyone likes a bit of praise and recognition every now & then, and also, the dancer will have a free class as a small gesture.

DANCER OF THE MONTH FOR FEB IS...Debbie Melbourne!

Debbie dances with my Sunday troupe, and I hope she won't mind me saying she is quite a shy, reserved dancer! However, I've watched her grow in confidence over the months, and I loved her passion and enthusiasm when she found a style she really connected with, when we did a taster of gypsy dancing. She is an elegant and graceful dancer, and I've watched her dance this current routine which she remembers well and most importantly, she has fun with it! Well done Debbie!

~ Private Lessons ~
Now I have a mirrored 'studio' in my house, I am able to offer private lessons to anyone who is interested.

Either use this for a one off session, to catch up on routines or have some extra help, or maybe to focus on building your confidence with dancing or working on technique...it's your lesson! It is £15 for 1x 1hr session, or £50 for 5x 45 min sessions when booked & paid together.  Some ladies book up several to have 1 on 1 tuition and help with choreographing a routine for the hafla!

Contact me if you are interested & we can discuss availability.

Unrelated to belly dancing, but linked to me in some way, here are some other websites if you are interested or require these services!!

www.fastpicklocksmiths.co.uk This is my partner's website, who is not only a competitively priced & experienced locksmith, but he also does property maintenance & repairs, minor plumbing emergencies, lock repairs & security upgrades as well adaptations for the elderly such as grab rails etc. A man of many talents!! If you ever require his services, please check out his website or give him a call: 07921 714 272

www.toniqueholistics.co.uk This is the website of a lady I use regularly for massages & beauty treatments, and I recommend the hydro-therm massage, which is lovely after a week of hard shimmying & being sat at a computer all day to ease away the tension! She does waxing, spray tans etc and takes a holistic approach to her work.

www.tribe.net This is like a forum/chat site, which isn't soley for belly dance, but there are lots of belly dance 'tribes' you can link into, and some of the information is really good. You can just view the pages, or register to become a member so you can post questions or messages. You can spend hours on it though, it is a bit addictive at first, like facebook!

You can also find me on facebook, and join our groupe 'belly dance with belly jewels' where myself and other local belly dance teachers will post details of events & also discuss dance related topics - come & have your say!
